6. When does one find out if she made our team?
Some players will be informed before others but everyone will know by June 12, 2011.
7. Are we a State Cup or a Region Cup team?
Titles don’t define teams; players do. We are setting a goal for ourselves to work hard in order to enjoy soccer competition at the highest level. Although our aim is eventually State Cup, we will examine our level of play in December 2011 and decide to proceed to State Cup or adjust to Region Cup competition.
8. What are our chances to be a State Cup Team?
We have showed great potential for the past several years, winning most of our games in BYSL & GCFL. We placed second in the GCFL Regional league this Spring. For the past two years we have competed at Region Cup and advanced each time to the challenge round. We are hoping to draw several solid players who are willing to share our vision and commitment to work hard toward becoming the best we can be and qualify for State Cup level competition.
9. Is a player guaranteed a minimum game time?
No. Playing time is at the coach’s discretion.
10. Who trains our team?
Coach Georges is our trainer. He played soccer in high school and college. He has been coaching soccer for 12 years. He holds an FYSA D(r) license since 2007. He is the Head Trainer at IYSA. Coach Georges also invites other trainers for special sessions.
11. What league do we play in?
We will play in the State or Regional divisions of the Greater Central Florida League (GCFL), depending on which division has more teams in our own age brackets and minimal Sunday games.
12. What is the farthest we would travel?
(1) In our league play, half of our games are at Hoover and the other half are an average of 1.5 hrs. away but not further than 2 hrs. (2) In tournaments, we will play some local and some as far as 3 hrs away.
13. How many tournaments will we participate in?
We will budget for 3 tournaments plus State or Region Cup. For those players who are interested in additional higher level tournaments, we will collect money separately and invite guest players.
14. Can a player be dual registered to another team?
Dual registration is not allowed, however we will be flexible when we get to State and Region Cup. Guest playing is allowed upon the coach’s discretion.
15. Can a player participate in another sport?
Yes, as long as the player is performing well and attending at least one soccer practice a week.
16. When do we practice?
